The La Melpomène class was a group of 12 French torpedo boats built from 1933 to 1935. The La Melpomène class was one of the fastest ships of the time because they could achieve a maximum speed of 34.5 knots; although the French built the ship as torpedo boats, due to their size and structure, the class is sometimes considered a light destroyer.
